High Purity 98% Potassium Fluorosilicate Used for Building Materials K2SiF6 CAS 16871-90-2
1. Product Introduction
Potassium fluorislicate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula K2SiF6 . It is a white crystalline powder. Potassium fluorosilicate is almost insoluble in cold water, insoluble in liquid ammonia and alcohol, and soluble in hydrochloric acid. Potassium fluorosilicate is mainly used in wood preservation, pesticides, ceramic enamel manufacturing, aluminum and the smelting of magnesium, the manufacture of optical glass such as potassium fluoride and potassium glass, and the raw materials for synthesizing mica and welding electrodes.
Potassium Fluorosilicate features
1. Solubility: Potassium fluorosilicate is highly soluble in water. When dissolved, it forms an acidic solution due to the hydrolysis of the hexafluorosilicate anions.
2. Stability: This compound is generally stable at normal temperatures and pressures. However, it can decompose at higher temperatures, releasing toxic hydrogen fluoride (HF) gas.
3. Melting and boiling points: Potassium fluorosilicate has a high melting point of approximately 840 °C (1544 °F) and does not have a well-defined boiling point. Instead, it decomposes into its constituent compounds upon heating.

3. Product Applications
Potassium fluorosilicate has many applications in many industries.
4. Potassium Fluorosilicate Storage Ways
Container: Store potassium fluorosilicate in a tightly sealed container made of a compatible material, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or glass. The container should be labeled appropriately and kept securely closed when not in use.
Temperature: Store potassium fluorosilicate in a cool and dry area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. The compound should be kept at room temperature or below.
Ventilation: Ensure good ventilation in the storage area to prevent the accumulation of any potentially harmful fumes or gases that may be released.
