1. Borax Anhydrous Introduction

 

Turkey ETiBOR-68 disodium tetraborate anhydrous appearance is white granular or colorless vitreous crystal. The melting point of alpha orthorhombic crystal is 742.5 ℃, and the density is 2.28; The melting point of beta orthorhombic crystal is 742.5℃, and the density is 2.28. It has strong hygroscopicity and can soluble in water and glycerol. Na2B4O7 is slowly dissolved in methanol to form a solution with a concentration of 13-16%. the aqueous solution is weak alkaline, insoluble in alcohol. Anhydrous borax is the product obtained when borax is heated to 350-450 ℃. When placed in air, isodium tetraborate anhydrous can be hygroscopically changed into borax decahydrate or borax pentahydrate.

Borax anhydrous can be used as a stabilizer and bonding agent in firebricks and castables. Borax anhydrous gives an intermediate-temperature glassy bond prior to ceramic bond establishment, at which point the borate compound is frequently volatilized from the system.

 

Anhydrous borax plays an important role in the manufacturing of refractories materials, mainly improving the fire resistance of materials through the following methods:


As an additive for fire-resistant materials: Anhydrous borax can react chemically with other components in refractories materials to form inorganic boron compounds. These inorganic boron compounds exhibit good stability and chemical inertness at high temperatures, effectively preventing the spread of flames and heat.


Improving the thermal stability of materials: The addition of anhydrous borax can enhance the thermal stability of refractory materials. Under high temperature conditions, anhydrous borax can inhibit the thermal decomposition and combustion reactions of materials, reducing the production of flammable substances. This enables refractories to maintain stability for a longer period of time in the event of a fire, delaying the spread of the fire.


Improving the chemical stability of materials: Anhydrous borax can also enhance the chemical stability of refractory materials. It can react with oxygen, water vapor, and other substances in the air to form a dense protective layer, preventing oxygen and heat from further invading the interior of the material. This protective layer can effectively mitigate the destructive effect of fire on materials and improve their fire resistance.
